4 FREE Spring Knitting Patterns

It’s May! And the weather in the UK is finally beginning to agree it is officially spring season 🌸

If you are in need of some knitting inspiration, I’ll be sharing 4 knitting patterns that you can knit this spring season 🌿

1. Lace Slouchy Beanie

Yarn: Worsted-Weight but I used Deramores Essential DK (pictured)

Pattern: Boardwalk by Elizabeth Pedersen on Ravelry

I used 2 strands of DK yarn as this pattern calls for worsted-weight yarn. I also used slightly bigger-sized needles for the body to make it a slouchy hat.

The pattern is a great fit for lace knitting beginners, with very easy to read charts and instructions. I, especially love the decreases and how they fall perfectly on the hat!

This is a nice fit for the spring season when the weather isn’t as warm so you can definitely use blends of acrylic which are not super warm but are still cosy for the season.

Also, personally, anything with lace gives me total spring vibes and so I’ve chosen this pattern as one of the top ones for the spring season!

2. Spring Cleaning Dishcloth

Yarn: Worsted-weight, I used DROPS Paris

Pattern: The Willow Dishcloth by Kneedles & Life

This is a lovely beginner pattern to practice different types of stitches and to develop your skill as a knitter.

The pattern is super easy to follow and makes for a very pretty-looking accompaniment to your kitchen sink!

Spring season calls for spring cleaning and this dishcloth is the perfect way to set a tempo to clean and upgrade your kitchen decor!

As long as you use cotton yarn, it washes well and is definitely reusable. It also makes a nice last-minute gift since it’s such a quick knit!

3. Eyelet Fingerless Mitts

Yarn: DK-weight, I used DROPS Karisma

Pattern: Highland Coo Pawkies by Deborah Qalballah on Ravelry

The pattern is definitely beginner-friendly, uses less than 50g of yarn and is a quick-knit project.

Fingerless mitts are a must-have accessory in the spring season. Due to the weather being in such a transitional state, it may be too hot for gloves but too cold to go without any!

These fingerless mitts are patterned with lace and so are a great way to practice your eyelet stitches as well.

You can knit them in wool or acrylic, whichever material goes well with the season.

4. Spring Leafy Headband/Ear-warmer

Yarn: Chunky-weight, I used Paintbox Yarns Simply Chunky

Pattern: Branching into Spring Headband by me – check out the FREE pattern here

I wrote this pattern keeping the spring season in mind, while the seed-stitched borders are a similitude to the flower buds and the middle pattern reminds one of the branches of leaves.

This pattern is great for lace knitting beginners, a quick knit and is a repetitive pattern so is a great project for TV knitting. This headband is also wide enough to work well as an ear warmer.

Headbands are definitely a spring accessory because, for some, the weather may be too hot for beanies. And with all these lace stitches, how can it not be the perfect knitting pattern for spring?

Happy Knitting!
